  • Talk “Oswald in Minsk: Deciphering the KGB Dossier and Archival Diplomacy” (Alexander Lukashuk)

    Prague, Прага
    18.11.2025

A talk “Oswald in Minsk: Deciphering the KGB Dossier and Archival Diplomacy” will take place in Prague. This event carries particular historical significance as we approach the commemoration of the tragic death of John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States, on November 22, 1963.

The distinguished author and former director of RFE/RL’s Belarus Service, Alexander Lukashuk, will deliver the talk. In 1990, he published the first release of Lee Harvey Oswald’s original diaries in the USSR, conducted interviews with Oswald’s friends and the late Norman Mailer, and was the only civilian ever granted access to the KGB’s Oswald files. The mystery surrounding the assassination endures, and details of Oswald’s time abroad are crucially important.
