On September 21, 2026, a ministerial event will be held on the margins of the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly, focusing on the threats posed by the Lukashenka regime in Belarus and their implications for regional and international security. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will join the event.
The event will be co-hosted by Latvia and the European Union, together with Estonia, Ireland, Lithuania, Sweden, and Ukraine. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office has co-organized it.
Participants will discuss systemic repression in Belarus and its links to broader security challenges, transnational repression against Belarusians in exile, and hybrid threats, including the instrumentalization of migration and disinformation. Particular attention will be paid to Belarus’s role in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
