On September 18–19, Kyiv will host the public and political chapter of the 5th Ostrogski Forum.
The Ostrogski Forum is a regular Belarusian–Ukrainian expert platform created to discuss current issues in bilateral relations and develop practical proposals for their advancement. The forum brings together experts, researchers, civil society representatives, and political institutions from Belarus and Ukraine.
This year, participants will focus on how Russia’s war against Ukraine is reshaping the region and what place democratic Belarus could occupy in the future regional security system. Particular attention will be paid to ways of turning support for Ukraine from Belarus’s democratic forces and communities into practical partnership between the two countries.
The program will feature discussions on the state and prospects of Belarusian–Ukrainian political dialogue, regional security, and the future partnership between democratic Belarus and Ukraine. Participants will also discuss the situation of Belarusians in Ukraine, their rights and contribution to Ukrainian communities, as well as Belarusians’ responsibility toward Ukraine during the war.
Other topics will include Belarusian national identity, culture as a tool for countering the “Russian World” ideology, the voice of anti-war Belarus in Ukraine, and the role of Belarusian volunteer fighters in the future regional security architecture. The forum will also present findings from new research on Belarus–Ukraine relations.
The forum is organized by the Free Belarus Center, the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, Ukrainian Catholic University, the Political Sphere Institute, the European Dialogue Center, and the Center for European Transformation, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and the International Renaissance Foundation.
