Today, under the guise of a letter from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, scammers sent letters to Belarus' diplomatic partners – ambassadors and representatives of various countries. Here is the content of the fake letter:
The text of the letter contains several statements that have no relation to reality and are refuted by the following facts:
1. From the first day of the war, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has been saying that Vladimir Putin is the aggressor who started the war in Ukraine with the help of Alexander Lukashenko, who, against the will of Belarusians, allowed the Russian army to launch an invasion of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus. Her first statement was published at 5:15am on February 24, 2022.
2. Back in March at a speech at the UN Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya urged to recognize Belarus as a country under temporary military occupation, and to call Lukashenko and Putin to tribunal. Tsikhanouskaya defends the position that without free Ukraine there can be no free Belarus, and without free Belarus there will be no safety guarantees for Ukraine. Therefore, as Tsikhanouskaya says, it is necessary to achieve the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of both Ukraine and Belarus. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her team maintain contact with representatives of Ukraine and express publicly and non-publicly (at meetings) support for the people and the president of Ukraine.
3. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya says that, given the events of the last two years, Belarusians see more and more sense in rapprochement with Europe.
4. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has always said that the 2020 protest in Belarus did not start against any third country. Belarusians were protesting against the falsification of the election, against the violence, torture and killing of peaceful protesters. Belarusians wanted to solve their internal problem and free their country from dictatorship. Now the Belarusians are confronting two dictators who unleashed the war. And to solve the Belarusan question, both Lukashenko and Putin must be stopped.
The letters were sent from an email which does not belong to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s team. Please, check email addresses for the sake of digital security – all contacts of Tsikhanouskaya’s Office are listed on her official website in chapters Contacts and Team.
