The Women’s Political Leadership Academy is an educational program for women from the Belarusian democratic movement and civil society in exile, implemented by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office (#OST) in partnership with the Office of Belarus Democratic Forces in the Czech Republic (#OfficeBLRinCZE). It opens a path for those who see themselves as influential representatives of their communities or social groups, ready to actively participate in political processes, defend Belarusian interests nationally and internationally, and shape the country’s future.
We are preparing a new annual program of the Women’s Political Leadership Academy, starting in 2026. Details will be published early next year — stay tuned!
Why are we organizing this program?
The Belarusian democratic movement of recent years cannot be imagined without women. They have been and remain organizers, initiators, experts, and participants in events. Yet women are still underrepresented in political decision-making; their political voices are rarely heard in the public space, and they often remain invisible. Even with high levels of engagement, Belarusian women lack systematic support, opportunities for political growth, and independent representation.
This is due not only to traditional inequalities but also to the absence of educational, reflective, and organizational tools adapted to Belarusian realities and women’s needs. Today, in conditions of exile, fragmentation, and fatigue, it is especially important not only to maintain activity but also to open new opportunities for political self-determination.
We offer participants:
- A theoretical block focused on understanding political systems, representation, institutions, and decision-making processes, with emphasis on how these function in democracies and how the Belarusian community can engage.
- Practical exercises aimed at developing political thinking and public expression: formulating positions, speaking before an audience, handling questions and critical situations, preparing communications and narratives, and creating initiatives and movements.
- Meetings with representatives of international organizations, parliaments, civil initiatives, and political movements — a chance to explore potential development scenarios and reflect on one’s place in politics.
- A space for analyzing personal experience, reflection, and open exchange — without pressure, in a safe and inclusive environment.
- A community of participants that emerges during the process and becomes a resource for support and continued collaborative action.
The goal of the Academy is to provide Belarusian women with practical advice and effective tools for self-realization in politics, to strengthen their political competencies, and to contribute to the creation of a sustainable community of Belarusian women leaders.
Why will it be interesting for participants?
Participants will get to:
- Learn to overcome stereotypes, set political goals, build roadmaps to leadership, and develop skills in influence, public speaking, debates, and negotiations.
- Find like-minded active Belarusian women, building a community for mutual support, horizontal connections, and long-term collaboration online and in person.
- Gain knowledge in project management, delegation, financial literacy, political technologies, article writing, social media, and PR to implement your own initiatives.
- Participate in intercultural exchange, educational visits, and meetings with experts and leaders who will share their experiences.
- Develop and implement a political project, participate in internships, visits, and other events.
Who are the experts and instructors?
The list of speakers and experts depends on the specific Academy program. It is published in announcements or event lists available only to participants.
During past events, participants learned from the knowledge and experience of:

Warsaw, May 25–26, 2025 The program was completed by 15 participants. They met with experts and learned to overcome stereotypes, define political goals, build roadmaps to leadership, develop leadership skills, and build communities. Participants’ feedback
- Ideas that we formulated together started turning into action.
- I will definitely use the tips on public speaking.
- The Academy is not just training. It’s a movement. A community. A force of those ready to act. Heartfelt thanks!
- It is during the live exchange of experience that concrete actions emerge, new connections are made, and an atmosphere of trust and friendship develops — essential for women’s solidarity, mutual support, and empowerment.
- I was very inspired by strong and talented women and will support them through my contacts and resources.
- I really thought about bringing the Academy model, on a smaller scale, to my organization — for example, by hosting a few lectures for Belarusian women in my city.
- I would gladly stay in touch with these wonderful women, knowing I can reach out for support, advice, and project development.
