  • 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster

    26.04.2026

April 26 marks 40 years since the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant — one of the largest man-made disasters in history.

Forty years have passed since the Chornobyl catastrophe, which affected millions of people across different countries. Time has passed — but the threat remains. The authorities in Belarus are just as irresponsible and unaccountable to society as they were back then. This is absolutely unacceptable.

That is why this year’s campaign will be held under the slogan “For an Independent and Nuclear-Free Belarus”.

To mark this date, discussions, lectures, concerts, commemorative actions, and cultural events dedicated to the memory of Chornobyl, its consequences for Belarus and the world, and the people whose lives it changed forever will take place around the world.

The Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has compiled a list of events dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the disaster. The list will be updated.

If you are planning other actions or events, inform the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in any convenient way so that as many Belarusians as possible can take part.
