The Belarusian leader met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, during the NATO Summit in Washington. At the meeting, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya mentioned the situation with the Belsat TV channel and urged the minister to continue supporting the channel while maintaining its independence. She emphasized that the TV channel is critically important for the Belarusian community.
The politicians also discussed the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called for maintaining passenger traffic between the countries and clarifying rules to lift or ease restrictions for individuals crossing the border.
Additionally, the parties discussed visas for Belarusians. The leader urged the minister to continue issuing humanitarian visas and expand the issuance of regular ones.
The parties also discussed the situation of political prisoners, specifically Andrzej Poczobut. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called for keeping the issue of political prisoners on the agenda and working towards the release of all repressed individuals. At the end of the meeting, the politicians talked about holding a Polish-Belarusian conference early next year.
