On August 5-6, the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, and the Coordination Council will hold the Conference “New Belarus”. The event is dedicated to the 3d Anniversary of the Belarus peaceful uprising that started on August 9, 2020, and the first Anniversary of the creation of the United Transitional Cabinet. More than 250 representatives of NGOs, political parties, diaspora groups, civil initiatives, and media will take part in the event.
On August 5, 50 political leaders, from various initiatives and political parties, will gather at the closed session to discuss the joint political strategy and sign common political declarations. The session will begin at 2 pm.
On August 6, the conference will begin at 10 am and end at 6 pm. We expect more than 250 participants at the event. It will include the address of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and three panel discussions:
- The strategy of Belarusian democratic forces.
- European choice for Belarus.
- New Belarus: What country do we want to build?
Among panelists, there are representatives of OST, UTC, Coordination Council, Kalinouski regiment, Babaryka's Team, Cyber Partisans, Center of New Ideas, Platform “New Belarus”, and BEROC. Also, former presidential candidate Alexander Milinkevich will join as a speaker.
The event will occur at the Sound Garden Hotel (near Warsaw Airport). Participants will travel at their own cost. The event will be live-streamed and open to media; online and offline participants will be given the opportunity to participate in the conversation, comment and ask questions.
In preparation for the conference, the United Transitional Cabinet conducted a strategic session; Coordination Council will hold a hearing on the work of the United Transitional Cabinet (August 2-3). Also, the Belarusian independent media and democratic forces have conducted the Youtube marathon to fundraise for Belarusian political prisoners; over two days, 570,000 euros have been collected. After the conference, on August 9, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will hold the reception in Vilnius with the participation of the diplomatic corps and will join the rally in Vilnius. Various events dedicated to the International Day of Solidarity with Belarus will take place around the globe.
