To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the protests in Belarus, diaspora communities are organizing marches, rallies, and cultural events in various countries. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office has compiled a list of these events.
VISIT TO FINLAND
Over two days in Helsinki, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya joined the Helsinki+50 Conference and held a series of meetings with top Finnish officials, including President Alexander Stubb, Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, and Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho. She also met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, representatives of the foreign ministries of Norway and Finland, OSCE PA Presidents Pere Joan Pons Sampietro and Pia Kauma, and Finland’s former Foreign Minister and presidential candidate Pekka Haavisto.
Following the visit, Finland contributed €50,000 to the International Humanitarian Fund to support repressed Belarusians.
SOLIDARITY RALLY FOR UKRAINE
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya joined the weekly rally in support of Ukraine in Vilnius. She addressed the participants, expressing solidarity with Ukrainians and calling for unity in resisting the aggressor.
STATEMENT ON DRONE CRASH IN MINSK
This week, a Russian drone was shot down over Minsk and crashed near a kindergarten. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya responded to the incident: “For the regime, controlling people is far more important than caring for their health and safety”.
