The regime is meticulously preparing for its 2024 sham election. It has been placing panic buttons at polling stations, installing surveillance systems, and preparing “rapid response groups”. It wants Belarusians to pretend they are fine with agreeing to a pre-approved outcome. The campaign organized by Lukashenka has nothing to do with a democratic election. Therefore, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Senior Political Advisor, Alexander Dabravolski, insists that Belarusians should not participate in this political farce: “Instead of a fair election, you get to choose from regime-approved people who can only care about their superior authorities. Your participation will only enable them to pretend that they were elected. We are facing a sham election, and everybody already knows its outcome. There will be a day in the future when our actions will culminate in a change. For now, something we can definitely do is not participate in this deception”.
