August 25 marks the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Belarus’s independence. In her address to Belarusians, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya calls on Belarusians to remember how fragile independence can be and stresses that preserving their country is a common interest for Belarusians with different views, both inside the country and in exile.
“It seems to me that independence is something that can unite all Belarusians today. Those who took to the streets in 2020 and those who did not. Those who live in Belarus and those in exile. People with different political views, even those who find themselves on opposite sides of the barricades”.
