Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended the TUTAKA Belarusian Festival, where she met with diplomats and activists, visited a market of Belarusian craftspeople, and participated in several cultural events.
As usual, conversations with Belarusians were a significant part of her visit. In Podlasie, the evening was filled with sincere discussions about important and concerning issues for Belarusians. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized the importance of joint efforts by those inside the country and the diaspora for the sake of Belarus’ future. “Achieving our common goal consists of small steps that each of us can take”, noted Ms. Tsikhanouskaya.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Although we Belarusians have been scattered across the world, it is our culture, history, and language that keep us together. Belarus is oppressed today but no repressions or regime propaganda can suppress our freedom-loving Belarusian spirit. Thank you to the organizers of TUTAKA and every participant! I am overwhelmed with pride for the many talents we Belarusians have”.
