  • What is notable about Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s visit to Prague? Explained by Dzianis Kuchynski

    March 22, 2024

On March 23, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will begin her working visit to the Czech Republic. Her team has already announced the leader’s participation in the Third Conference of the Belarusian Diaspora but the Belarusian leader’s agenda for the visit is much broader. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Diplomatic Advisor, Dzianis Kuchynski, shares the key and most important details in his new video.

    • A ceremony will be held to officially launch the Office of Belarus Democratic Forces in the Czech Republic.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and other representatives of the democratic forces will lay flowers at the graves of the presidents of the Belarusian Democratic Republic, who are buried in Prague.
    • They will also launch a memorial for Francysk Skaryna, a Belarusian book printer who started his publishing career in Prague.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will meet with the Czech leadership to discuss visas for Belarusians and support for students, including scholarships for politically imprisoned students.

Mr. Kuchynski also explains what distinguishes the Third Conference of the Belarusian Diaspora from previous ones:

“I should note a unique feature that was not present at previous conferences: the Belarus–Ukraine element. Since we cannot fully cooperate with Ukraine while our country is under occupation, we use all available opportunities to do this. Including diaspora, civil society, and political platforms – together with Ukraine”.
