Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya continues her visit to Luxembourg. As part of her high-level political engagements, she held talks with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos. The central focus of their discussion was the strategic cooperation between the democratic forces of Belarus and the Council of Europe. This partnership already rests on a solid foundation, with the Contact Group in place, a delegation to PACE active, and a key resolution on Belarus adopted at the Reykjavik Summit.
In addition, the parties discussed:
- A possible monitoring mechanism for the implementation of the Luxembourg Solutions;
- A legal review of the draft New Belarus Constitution;
- The need to hold Lukashenka accountable through a special tribunal.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also addressed the foreign ministers of all Council of Europe member states at the Committee of Ministers session, calling for unity, people-centered support, and courage in defending democracy.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya delivered three key points:
“First, let us remain united – for the values we all share. Values are what make Europe strong. We must stay united across Europe and on both sides of the Atlantic.
Second, support the people. Build bridges, not walls. Military power alone means nothing without people who are willing to defend freedom.
And third, be bold. Be brave. Support Ukraine. Stand up to Putin. Hold Lukashenka accountable. Protect your democracies – and help those who are still fighting for theirs”.
