Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya arrived in the Netherlands on a working visit to take part in the NATO Summit. Ahead of her speech at the side event “Zapad 2025 and Beyond: Understanding the Eastern Threat and NATO’s Response,” which focused on security challenges linked to Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a series of high-level meetings.
She met with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte; the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof; and United States Senators Chris Coons and Jeanne Shaheen. She also had a closed-door dialogue with the Dutch Foreign Minister, Caspar Veldkamp.
Two key topics were central to the discussions:
- The military and political situation in the region;
- Possible strategies and tools to secure the release of political prisoners in Belarus.
The NATO 2025 Summit is fully dedicated to addressing major security and defense challenges facing the European region. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s participation and her presentation of the Red Paper come at a critical moment, as Belarus is increasingly seen as an integral part of regional stability and security.
