  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke at a discussion in the Lithuanian Seimas

    March 31, 2026

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya delivered a speech at the opening of a roundtable in the Lithuanian Seimas, dedicated to Belarus’ role in regional security and cooperation with democratic forces.

    The event was attended by:

    • Juozas Olekas, Speaker of the Seimas;
    • Audra Plepytė, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs;
    • Michał Kamiński, Deputy Marshal of the Polish Senate;
    • Lithuanian MPs, government representatives, experts,
    • members of the Belarusian democratic community.

    Discussions focused on Lithuania’s strategy toward Belarus, Belarusians’ contribution to Lithuanian society, and youth participation in political transformations.

    This meeting became an important platform for coordinating positions and developing a common vision on how to support Belarusians, increase pressure on the regime, and prepare for future democratic changes.

    Key topics of the event included:

    • the need to continue the policy of non-recognition of the regime;
    • support for political prisoners and the demand for full amnesty;
    • sanctions as a tool for achieving systemic change;
    • international accountability for the regime’s crimes;
    • deepening cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Only a free, independent, European Belarus, free from Russian control, can guarantee security for Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine. As long as this regime rules Belarus, it will always pose threats to its neighbors. And let’s not be naive: Lukashenka serves Russia. He cannot be trusted or appeased. He has deceived Lithuania, Poland, and the European Union more than once — and he will do it again”.
