  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Kseniya Lutskina

    March 14, 2025

Journalist Kseniya Lutskina was arrested in Belarus in 2020 for her civic stance and sentenced to eight years in prison. A former state TV employee, she openly condemned violence and spoke out against Lukashenka’s policies. She endured harsh prison conditions that severely impacted her health.

Kseniya managed to leave Belarus after her release. Now, she is working to rebuild her life, return to journalism, support other former political prisoners, and advocate for the release of those still behind bars.

During today’s meeting in Vilnius, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya highlighted Kseniya’s extraordinary resilience:

“The regime did everything to break Kseniya’s will – not just through her sentence but by denying her medical care, which seriously damaged her health. But Kseniya persevered through pressure. I am incredibly relieved that she is now safe because life and freedom are the most valuable things a person has. Now, we must help Kseniya recover and continue our fight together for those still imprisoned”.
