During her visit to Poznań, the Belarusian leader met with the local diaspora. Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Pavel Latushka, and Representative for National Revival, Alina Koushyk, joined Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya for the conversation.
The meeting, initiated by Lichtar at Adam Mickiewicz University, was attended by more than 300 people.
During a brief opening speech, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya thanked Belarusian organizations for their activities in Poznań and urged them not to succumb to depression and apathy.
“I know that news from Belarus does not bring optimism. I understand that sometimes you feel like giving up. But that’s what the regime wants – to drive us into apathy, frustration, and disappointment. But do you know the best weapon against this? Action. When you act, there is no time for apathy and depression”, the leader noted.
The central part of the event was a discussion of the Coordination Council election, the new Belarusian passport project, the legalization of stay issues, and problems with pension payments faced by Belarusians in Poland.
At the end of the meeting, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called on Belarusians to join the International Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners on May 21.
