During the meeting, the Belarusian leader expressed gratitude to the German Embassy in Lithuania for supporting Belarus’ democratic forces, and thanked Germany for supporting repressed Belarusians, former political prisoners, volunteer fighters in Ukraine, and independent media.
The parties also discussed their views on the upcoming sham election scheduled by the regime for February. They also talked about cooperation between the EU, Germany, and Belarusian democratic institutions. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for holding Lukashenka and his accomplices accountable for their crimes. At the end of the meeting, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya suggested that the German Embassy and Belarus’ democratic forces organize joint cultural events in Vilnius.
