  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya joined Poland’s Constitution Day celebrations

    May 04, 2026

At the invitation of the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended the Constitution Day ceremony on May 3, where Andrzej Poczobut was awarded the Order of the White Eagle — Poland’s highest state decoration.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Andrzej Poczobut unites the Belarusian and Polish peoples. He is a symbol of resilience and courage. He endured torture and remained true to his principles. Poczobut represents the Polish minority in Belarus, which has lived on our land for centuries and is an integral part of our culture, history, and future. We value Poczobut both in Poland and in Belarus, and he truly deserves this award”.

After the ceremony, alongside the Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, Pavel Latushka, and representatives of the Polish authorities, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya took part in a ceremonial march through central Warsaw and attended events at the Presidential Palace.

She stressed that the May 3 Constitution — the first in Europe — also holds significance for Belarusians, as it forms part of a shared European heritage. She noted that the document established principles Belarusians continue to fight for today: limited government, accountability to society, and the rule of law.

“Today, as Belarusians fight for their rights and dignity, these values resonate especially strongly and remain relevant”, she added.
