In an interview with the Belarusian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya talked about her attitude towards the title of an “accidental president” and the desire to resign she sometimes feels.
📌 When people call you an “accidental president”, do you agree?
“I agree with that. Fate did not prepare me for this. It was a spontaneous choice. Of course, I got where I am by accident. The path I have taken and continue to tread is a difficult one. But perhaps, accidental things are never accidental”, emphasized Ms. Tsikhanouskaya.
📌 Is it possible for you to resign? Do you even want to?
“I keep having these thoughts, perhaps every morning or every evening when I feel exhausted. But I know that I can’t because I have taken on this responsibility, and people have taken on this responsibility. I know that I am not alone and cannot break what we all have. I cannot give up, I just have no right to. I will stand with my people as long as I can endure”, noted the Belarusian leader.
