The Belarusian leader took part in the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen Congress in Karlsruhe, along with German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck and Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. The event gathered around 2,000 people.
During her speech, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked the German politicians for their patronage over Belarusian political prisoners – there are more than 50 symbolic godparents in the Green Party. She also expressed hope that the resolution on Belarus adopted by the Bundestag two weeks ago will simplify the procedure for legalizing the stay for Belarusians in Germany.
The Belarusian leader addressed the Congress participants:
“Help us not only bring these changes closer but also prepare for them. I came here with several practical requests.
– Endorse European aspirations of Belarusians.
– Keep supporting political prisoners, victims of repression, as well as the media and civil society.
– Help us to bring Lukashenka’s regime to account.
– Help Ukraine to win this war. Victory of Ukraine will be the ultimate defeat for Putin and Lukashenka.
Together, we can build a Europe that is more robust, sustainable, and united than ever”.
