The Belarusian leader met with the European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman, in her office in Vilnius.
During the meeting, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized the need to support Belarusian independent media, noting that the issue is urgent. She drew Mr. Koppman’s attention to the funding problems faced by many media outlets this year and called for immediate support.
A meeting to discuss civil society support is scheduled to take place in Brussels in April, with numerous representatives of Belarus invited.
