  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya discussed challenges faced by Belarusian businesses with Poland’s Minister of Economic Development

    January 09, 2025

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya continues her working visit to Warsaw. Today, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Pavel Latushka met with Poland’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Krzysztof Paszyk. The meeting focused on supporting the Belarusian democratic community, entrepreneurs, and Belarusians who have sought refuge in Poland.

    Over 18,000 businesses and companies owned by Belarusians are currently registered in Poland. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called for comprehensive support for honest businesses that uphold democratic and European values and do not cooperate with the Lukashenka regime.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed:

    • A possible relocation program for Belarusian businesses with transparent criteria and candidate verification procedures;
    • A guarantee fund to support Belarusian businesses in the EU, potentially financed through the European Commission;
    • Additional support programs for small businesses and Belarusian entrepreneurs via Polish institutions;
    • Simplified procedures for opening bank accounts and improved access to financing.

    The parties also agreed to organize a major Belarusian-Polish business forum this year to address challenges and explore ways to support Belarusian businesses in Poland and all of Europe.

    Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development will release guidelines for Belarusian businesses and individuals interested in starting entrepreneurial activities in Poland, along with information on existing support opportunities.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Belarusian business is the foundation of the future free economy of Belarus. We must preserve, support, and develop it. These companies will undoubtedly return to Belarus to help build a new country”.
