  • “Security, democracy, and prosperity are interconnected and cannot exist without one another”. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke at the Brussels Forum 2025

    June 12, 2025

On the second day of her working visit to Brussels, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya took part in the Brussels Forum 2025, organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. This year marks the 20th edition of the forum – one of the key platforms for dialogue between political leaders, experts, and civil society representatives.

The theme of this year’s forum was “Partnership Disrupted: How Can Transatlantic Cooperation Endure?” Participants discussed ways to restore trust and strengthen cooperation between the US and Europe amid growing global instability.

Speakers included the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas; the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology of Poland, Michał Baranowski; and the former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Curtis Scaparrotti.

Ms. Tsikhanouskaya delivered a speech, emphasizing Belarus’ critical role in the future security of Europe and calling for stronger support for the country’s democratic forces.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I spoke about how security, democracy, and prosperity are deeply interconnected and cannot exist without one another. I spoke about Belarus’ independence, which is now under threat, and how critical it is to pull Belarus out of Russia’s grip. I stressed the importance of human connections, visa access, and support for Belarusians. Right now, Europe’s future is being decided, and Belarus is being held hostage. We need the support of Europe and the free world to change that”.
