During the NATO Summit, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, and the Foreign Minister of Czechia, Jan Lipavský.
With Ms. Kallas, they discussed the EU’s strategy vis-a-vis Belarus after the European Parliament election and the work of the Consultative Group, as well as a potential hearing on Belarus with the participation of European ministers. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called for a principled and decisive EU policy to isolate the regime while supporting the Belarusian people.
The Belarusian leader thanked Estonia for its consistent stance toward Belarus: Estonia has held hearings on Belarus at the UN Security Council, organized the Estonian–Belarusian conference, appointed a special envoy to work with Belarus’ democratic forces, and provided scholarships for students and youth.
In her meeting with the Foreign Minister of Czechia, Jan Lipavský, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya discussed the latest repression in Belarus, the militarization of the country, and provocations by the regime. She emphasized Russia’s attempts to absorb Belarus. It is worth noting that the Czech Republic has recently supported the establishment of the Office of Belarus Democratic Forces in Prague, eased visa conditions for Belarusian students, and backed several civil society projects.
