  • Searching for solutions to key challenges: Day two of the 4th Conference of the Belarusian Diaspora concluded in Warsaw

    May 25, 2025

The main day of the 4th Conference of the Belarusian Diaspora has concluded in Warsaw. Participants worked in groups to discuss current problems and new challenges and tried to find ways to address them. The day also featured a panel discussion on fundraising and a Q&A session with Belarusian politicians.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya delivered a speech to conclude the day. In the closing part of her address, she emphasized the resilience Belarusians demonstrate even in difficult circumstances, calling for mutual support:

“Even in the toughest conditions, we Belarusians don’t lose our optimism or sense of humor. And I think that’s what helps us stay true to ourselves and keep moving forward”.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also highlighted the power of community – one that, despite differences, can unite in solidarity:

“Observing this, I clearly saw that we are all working toward the same goal. And I would love for us to focus more on the positive. To learn to support and praise each other for good work, even when we hold different political views. This is exactly why we hold such conferences”.

Tomorrow, on the third day of the Conference, an exhibition titled “Nothing Particularly New” will take place from 12:00 to 20:00 at the Free Belarus Museum (Foksal 11, Warsaw). It will present political prisoners’ personal belongings, their letters, poems, and audio testimonies — an emotional narrative of life behind bars and the strength of solidarity.
