The first Belarusian Business Forum organized by the Association of Belarusian Business Abroad (ABBA) was held in Washington. In the video address, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Economic Reforms and Vice President of ABBA, Aleś Alachnovič, speaks on the results of the event.
It brought together more than 150 people, including Belarusian businesspeople from the US and Canada, representatives of the US State Department, the Department of Commerce, and USAID.
The panels focused on support for Belarusian businesses from the US, the development of the Belarusian business diaspora, and solving the financial problems of Belarusian businesspeople.
The forum concluded with the signing of an agreement between the Association of Belarusian Business Abroad (ABBA) and the Belarusian Canadian Alliance. As Mr. Alachnovič says, this will allow similar business events to be held in Canada in the future. Forums of Belarusian businesspeople are also expected in Vilnius, Warsaw, California, as well as during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“Despite the obstacles from the regime, US federal authorities are open to supporting Belarusians. The businesspeople and the diaspora show great demand for it. This inspires us to unite and build a community”, concludes the advisor.
