  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for April 22

    April 22, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus’ regime. Read the Manifest

Here is an overview of the Movement on April 22.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun project, which monitors the movements of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary for April 22.
    • Also, the Hajun project reviewed the Belarusian propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for the day. Propagandists showed “irrefutable evidence” that the atrocities by Russian troops in Bucha were a provocation. To prove that, they used a recap of the words of a person said to have been offered money for an interview.

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians

    • The BYSOL Foundation sent another car to Ukraine. Upon the request of the Ukrainian partners, the Foundation purchased a vehicle with two separate side-doors, which are needed for increased mobility.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya visited the Netherlands-based Zeilen Van Vrijheid Foundation that buys ambulance cars for Ukraine. Ukrainians and Belarusians volunteer for the Foundation. It has already donated 25 ambulance cars and one fire truck to Ukraine, with dozens more being prepared for delivery.
    • Belarusian human rights activists are raising funds for VAC systems to donate them to Ukrainian hospitals. These cutting-edge systems help heal wounds that cannot be sewn up. Join the fundraising here.
    • A Belarusian in Berlin held a one-woman picket against the war in Ukraine.
    • Belarusians use the eHealth platform to help people affected by war. Ukrainians from anywhere in the world can get a remote consultation with a doctor on the platform for free.
    • On April 23, Belarusians at the Center of Belarusian Solidarity in Warsaw will weave a camouflage net for Belarusan volunteers defending Ukraine.

    Awareness campaign

    • The Honest People initiative explained how to talk to older relatives about the war in Ukraine during the family meetings on Orthodox Easter.
    • Belarusian photographer Pavel Kritchko made a portrait of Putin, using 1,500 screenshots and photos made in 57 days of war.
    • The Center of Belarusian Solidarity denied speculations that Poland suspended the issuance of residence permits for foreigners, including Belarusians. The Center's lawyers contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland and received a reply: residence permits will be issued as before.
