A training course on European standards of equality and anti-discrimination for representatives of Belarus’ democratic forces and civil society has concluded in Strasbourg.
Over the course of several months, activists, lawyers, journalists, and researchers studied the practices against racism and intolerance implemented by the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, and the European Commission.
During the final event, participants presented new materials, including a Belarusian-language glossary of key concepts in the field of equality and non-discrimination.
Advisor on Legal Affairs to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Leanid Marozau, who attended the final event, noted: “For Belarusians, this course is not only knowledge but also real tools. We are laying the foundation for a country where the dignity and equality of every person will be protected both in law and in practice. These materials will become part of the long-term strategy of the democratic forces and will be valuable both today and in the future”.
The program was implemented with the support of the Council of Europe and the European Union within the framework of projects on good governance and non-discrimination. It is part of the 2024–2025 action plan of the Council of Europe’s Contact Group on Belarus.
