Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya visited the “Zamak” shelter run by the Dapamoga NGO in Vilnius.
The Belarusian leader was given a tour of the shelter, which has become home to many Belarusians after having to leave the country for political reasons. The highlight of the evening was Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s heartfelt conversation with the residents of “Zamak”.
Here’s what they discussed:
📎 How mentors create a family atmosphere, offer support, and help people adjust to life in a new country. Notably, all the mentors at the shelter are volunteers.
📎 Questions and requests that Belarusians can bring to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office.
📎 Ways to support political prisoners and efforts to achieve their release.
📎 Legal residency issues in Lithuania, as well as Belarusians’ safety in the country.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I deeply understand how much you do for Belarusians. I am heartened by your efforts. It was especially heartwarming to feel the atmosphere of friendship and coziness that reigns in the shelter. So many Belarusians in exile miss this feeling! Let me thank the Head of Dapamoga, Nataliya Kolegova, for her dedication and faith in people. Here, you truly feel the Belarusian solidarity”
On Saturday, September 7, Dapamoga will celebrate its anniversary. Everyone is welcome to join the event.
