Today, March 25, marks the 107th anniversary of the Belarusian Democratic Republic’s declaration of independence. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya addresses Belarusians on Freedom Day:
“We all know and cherish in our hearts the date March 25 – the day the Belarusian Democratic Republic declared independence. The day Belarus stepped out of the shadow of an imperial occupier. The day our people proclaimed their sovereignty and the right to determine our fate. And this will inevitably happen again.
Think about it: For 30 years, the regime has done everything to crush our will. They try to intimidate, imprison, and divide us, hoping we will surrender. But you cannot stop a person from striving for freedom. Every political prisoner represents an entire family that will never forgive the regime for its crimes. Every attempt to silence us only brings forth more and more defenders of freedom and independence”.
