  • “There is not a single UN charter that has not been violated by Lukashenka’s regime”. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya addressed the UN

    September 20, 2023

The Belarusian leader is currently in New York attending the UN General Assembly. She addressed the representatives of the UN on behalf of the Belarusian people.

“I ask the United Nations to keep Belarus high on the agenda. I ask you to employ all available tools to secure the release of political prisoners and bring the perpetrators to justice. I call on UN Courts to initiate proceedings against the regime in Minsk. I also call on the UN Security Council to put Belarus on the agenda to discuss the deployment of nuclear weapons and the direct threat to our independence.

Belarus needs your immediate attention and action. It is a pivotal moment in history, and I ask the world community to stand with us as we fight for the very existence of our country and people”.

Ms. Tsikhanouskaya noted that the Belarusian state is no longer performing its duties to its citizens. She also called for excluding the regime of Lukashenka from the UN fora as it does not represent the Belarusian people.
