On September 1, Knowledge Day, when the academic year starts in Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya addressed teachers, parents, and schoolchildren:

“Dear teachers! Being an honest teacher in Belarus today is a true feat. And every day you do it despite the systemic pressure. You teach children to think and express their opinions. You strive to see aptitudes and talents in every child. Thank you for your perseverance. Please, keep up your important work.

Moms and dads, you are my heroes! I know the challenges you face in educating your children. Don't hide the truth. Even little children can understand that what is happening now is not OK.

Dear students! I am happy to see a new generation of Belarusians emerging in our country who do not believe in propagandists and do not tolerate discrimination based on their opinions, appearance, gender, or religion. Remember: it is up to you to decide what kind of country you want to live in and what you want the world to be”.
