PRESS CONFERENCE WITH RELEASED POLITICAL PRISONERS
On December 22, a press conference took place in Vilnius with political prisoners who arrived in Lithuania on December 18 after being released on December 13 and forcibly expelled from Belarus to Ukraine. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya took part in the press conference.
The former political prisoners spoke about detention, torture, and their first days in freedom.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Today, we heard the real, living stories of people who went through imprisonment, remained strong, and did not lose hope. Each of these stories is a reminder of what we are fighting for. And we will not stop until every political prisoner is free, in a free Belarus”.

CHRISTMAS
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya wished a Merry Christmas to Belarusians celebrating on December 25: “This holiday always brings us back to simple things: family conversations, a quiet evening, and the sense that we are surrounded by people who truly care about us. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Wishing you bright and peaceful holidays, my dear ones”.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also called for joining the Christmas fundraisers.
PERSECUTION OF JOURNALISTS
Belarus ranks 4th in the world in the number of imprisoned journalists. On December 23, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made a statement on the safety of journalists:
“Thanks to your work, the regime has not been able to hide the truth from Belarusians or the world. Thanks to your work, it breaks through prisons, censorship, lies, and the regime’s repeated restrictions. And each of you, through your work, brings closer the day when Belarusian journalism will break free of its chains”.
MEETINGS WITH ŽYGIMANTAS PAVILIONIS AND TOMAS TOMILINAS
On December 23, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Diplomatic Advisor, Dzianis Kuchynski, and Advisor on Parliamentary Cooperation, Anatoli Liabedzka, met with the Deputy Chair of the “For a Democratic Belarus” Parliamentary Group in the Seimas of Lithuania, Žygimantas Pavilionis.
In addition, on December 25, Mr. Kuchynski and Mr. Liabedzka met with Tomas Tomilinas of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania”.
The parties discussed cooperation between Belarusian and Lithuanian political parties and youth party organizations, as well as potential frameworks for a Cooperation Agreement between the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Democratic Forces of Belarus.
