Contemporary Belarusian education suffers from numerous issues, including ineffective governance models, flawed content of educational programs, and technological lag. Limited international academic cooperation and decline in the professional level of educators hinder the Belarusian education system from being on-trend.
Recognizing the need for reforms, the Education Team of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, in collaboration with the United Transitional Cabinet, gathered a group of education experts and professionals. This group developed an action plan, the Roadmap for the Democratization of Higher Education in Belarus.
The plan outlined in the document will help transform the higher education system effectively after a democratic transition in the country.
Tatiana Shchyttsova, Advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on Education and Science, commented on the project: “The democratization of the higher education system in Belarus begins with our preparation for future reforms. We want every Belarusian to participate in the public discussion of the Roadmap and openly express their views on this document, as well as propose their ideas. We welcome well-founded suggestions and practical advice for improving the document”.
