The national leader of Belarus commented on the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall outside Moscow:
“Today’s terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert complex reminded me of what happened in the early 2000s. Horrific scenes after explosions in residential buildings, the Moscow theater hostage crisis, hostages in Beslan… A tragedy that was used as a pretext for war, like today.
If this incident now becomes a pretext for declaring war, we will not be bystanders. The escalation of war poses a direct danger to Belarus as Russia will make our country a participant in its plans. The tragedy will not be on TV, we will be watching it unfold with our own eyes.
I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in this horrific tragedy. And I wish everyone who was injured to recover.
Let me reiterate the call by my deputy in the United Transitional Cabinet, Pavel Latushka. I ask Belarusians to take care of their safety, avoid crowded places, and follow what is happening in Belarus these days.”
