  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to Lukashenka regime: “Let us see political prisoners!”

    March 08, 2024

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, joined by her team, A Country to Live in, and Belarusians of Vilnius, held a briefing near the Belarusian Embassy in Lithuania. The briefing focused on the incommunicado detention of political prisoners in Belarus. For a year now, the Lukashenka regime has been keeping Siarhei Tsikhanouski with no connection with the outside world.

Participants of the rally held posters and photographs of political prisoners who, like Siarhei Tsikhanouski, are kept incommunicado.

Here is the highlight from the Belarusian leader’s speech during the briefing:

The Lukashenka regime has already killed five Belarusian political prisoners – Ihar Lednik, Vadzim Khrasko, Vitold Ashurak, Ales Pushkin, Mikalai Klimovich – and continues to kill others. People are being slowly killed in prison. And dying in captivity is a horrible death.

The murder of Alexei Navalny in Russia should have rocked the international community to finally take action. But so far, we have only heard statements of condemnation and concern.

We must take action to prevent further tragedies. The torture in prisons must stop. We must be determined and united. The regime must know: We will not stop until everyone is free”.
