In a 2-hour interview with TOK, the Belarusian leader talked about her meetings and conversations with the US President, Joe Biden:
“I had two meetings with President Biden and one phone conversation. During the meetings, he first and foremost asked me about the people in prisons, our struggle, and our needs. It was very important to hear from him that the US will consistently support the democratic movement in Belarus.
Here’s an interesting thing about the call: I remember he called me from his plane. It’s very unusual for a president to make a call from a plane”.
During the interview, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also addressed her meetings with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
“We once met in an informal setting, exchanged jokes, looked each other in the eyes. I don’t know what his team tells him about me. I may have critics in Ukraine but it’s a good sign that our relations with the Ukrainian side are improving”.
