The Belarusian leader joined a discussion of the current situation in Belarus and addressed its participants.
During the event, the future of the Coordination Council and the United Transitional Cabinet was discussed, along with the repercussions of Russia’s war against Ukraine for the security of Europe and beyond. Participants also discussed Poland-Belarus relations and possible foreign policy solutions.
In her speech, the Belarusian leader noted: “The regime continues its anti-Polish campaign within the country. We must resist this by demonstrating even more cooperation: more joint projects and more positive messages to Belarusians. We need both statements of sanctions and messages of support, like announcements of more visas, more assistance, more cultural events, and more discussions of the European future”.
During the event, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also addressed Belarus’ role in European security and emphasized the importance of not recognizing the regime’s so-called “election” scheduled for February 25 this year: “This year, Lukashenka will hold an election for his ‘pocket’ parliament and the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. We know that this is a farce and imitation. We must maximize pressure on the regime and keep it in full political isolation”.
