The Belarusian leader explained why the democratic forces urge people to ignore the so-called “election” to the parliament and local councils scheduled by the regime for February 2024.
“What we are facing is a sham election. It will change absolutely nothing in the government system or the situation in the country. Therefore, there is no point for people to invest in this campaign or sacrifice themselves. This ritual is crucial solely for Lukashenka – it is how he “legitimizes” himself before his parliament. But for Belarus, this election has no meaning whatsoever”.
