During her visit to Brussels, the Belarusian leader met with the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tobias Billström, and Sweden’s Special Envoy for Relations with Democratic Belarus, Christina Johannesson. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya expressed her hope for such an envoy at the EU level.
The leader raised the issue of the legalization of stay for Belarusians abroad and reminded the Minister about the democratic forces’ work on the new Belarusian passport. She also called on Sweden to support this initiative, as it will help address a number of issues related to legalization of stay.
The parties also discussed plans for 2024, including a series of joint events and programs to support Belarusian culture. A Belarusian-Swedish conference is expected next year.
At the end of the meeting, the Belarusian leader invited the Minister to the Kalinowski Conference, which will take place on March 22 in Vilnius.
