In her Vilnius office, the Belarusian leader held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić. The meeting was also attended by the Director of Marija Pejčinović Burić’s Office, Gianluca Esposito, and Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Andrius Krivas.
During the discussion, the parties addressed:
📌 Continued work of the Contact Group for Belarus’ civil society;
📌 Steps towards developing a roadmap for Belarus’ accession to the Council of Europe;
📌 The Information Point of the Council of Europe in Vilnius.
During the meeting, the Belarusian leader noted: “Under the leadership of Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Council of Europe has officially formalized relations with the democratic forces of Belarus and ceased all cooperation with the illegitimate dictator. This is an indicator that unconventional times require unconventional solutions. The Council of Europe is our strategic ally, and we hope to deepen cooperation both within the framework of the Contact Group and beyond”.
