    January 10, 2024

Andrzej Duda assured Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya of Poland’s full support for the democratic forces and the Belarusian people in their struggle for freedom.

The politicians discussed joint events and coordinated actions in international organizations, including the UN. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called for inviting Belarus to the events within the framework of the Lublin Triangle, which includes Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine.

The Belarusian leader urged President Duda to continue exerting pressure on the regime to release political prisoners and to support mechanisms to hold the regime accountable for repression against Belarusians. She also emphasized accountability for crimes against Ukraine, including the regime’s involvement in the deportation of Ukrainian children.

At the end of the meeting, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya presented the President of Poland with an award for supporting Belarusians in their struggle for freedom – the Cross of Good Neighborhood.

After the official meeting, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended a formal reception hosted by Andrzej Duda for the Belarusian community in Poland.
