The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, welcomed the Head of Belarus’ United Transitional Cabinet, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, ahead of the Luxembourg Solutions Conference, which focuses on addressing the issues faced by Belarusians in exile. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya was accompanied by the Cabinet’s Representative for Foreign Affairs, Valery Kavaleuski, and the Head of the Mission of Democratic Belarus in Brussels, Ambassador Vladzimir Astapenka.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked the minister for supporting the conference and Luxembourg’s strong and principled stance on Belarus in the international arena.
During the meeting, the parties discussed:
📌 Implementation of the PACE recommendations on simplifying migration procedures for Belarusians at the EU level;
📌 Support for the repressed and political prisoners through the humanitarian fund, as well as for independent media, civil society, and Belarusian culture;
📌 Preparations for the Ukraine Peace Summit, the NATO Summit, and the UN General Assembly.
Luxembourg has joined the group “For a Democratic Belarus” in the OSCE, supported civil society initiatives and independent media, as well as the Contact Group for Belarus in the Council of Europe, and aligned with the EU sanctions. The Luxembourg Parliament has also established a Belarus friendship group.
