In Copenhagen, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with Oleksandr Merezhko. On the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, she expressed condolences over the deaths of civilians caused by Russian missile strikes.
The parties discussed possible cooperation between the democratic forces of Belarus and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including through the parliamentary group “For a Democratic Belarus”. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya informed Mr. Merezhko that in August, she appointed Sviatlana Shatsilina as the Head of the Mission of Democratic Belarus in Kyiv. She will focus on communication with the authorities, civil society, and the Belarusian diaspora.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stated: “Today, we honor all those who fell for Ukraine, including our fellow citizens who have fought on its side since 2014. More than 80 Belarusians have given their lives in this unjust war. We remember the brave volunteers, the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, and all those who continue to fight for freedom. Ukraine is fighting for our freedom as well. Glory to Ukraine! Long live Belarus!”
