On February 23, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met in Warsaw with representatives of Belarusian educational and academic initiatives. Pavel Barkouski and Yury Hubarevich of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus also attended the meeting.
Participants included representatives of the Free Belarus University, the Belarusian School in Warsaw, the Institute of Public History, and Personnel Reserve, as well as several other educational institutions. The meeting took place at the Belarusian Solidarity Center.
Main topics of discussion included:
- financial support for independent Belarusian education and research;
- recognition of professional status for scholars and teachers in Poland, and institutional affiliation for researchers participating in international projects;
- registration and accreditation procedures, and integration into Poland’s formal education system;
- visa support for Belarusian researchers;
- educational adaptation of children in exile;
- Belarusian-language textbooks.
