  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with ambassadors and diplomats from 16 countries

    A delegation led by the EEAS Special Representative for the Eastern Partnership, Dirk Schuebel, visited Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office in Vilnius. The diplomatic delegation included representatives from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Poland, Ireland, and Greece.

    The Belarusian leader briefed the politicians on the importance of the Eastern Partnership for Belarusians and emphasized the need to expand Belarusians’ participation in the program.

    In her speech, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made the following proposals:

    – Issuing more visas to Belarusians and simplifying the requirements for obtaining them.

    – Launching more scholarships and exchanges for Belarusians.

    – Simplifying the legalization of stay procedures in the EU countries following the examples of Poland and Lithuania. Issuing alien documents and residence permits and lifting apostille requirements.

    – Appointing special envoys for relations with democratic Belarus.

    – Including Belarus in the Eastern Partnership programs.

    – Supporting Belarusian free media and those repressed.

    – Supporting the new Belarusian passport project.
