Today in Tallinn, the major Belarus-Estonia Conference was launched. It was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia in cooperation with the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and became the first in its format. The event brought together about 250 participants, including representatives of the United Transitional Cabinet, the Coordination Council, Belarusian activists and media, as well as members of the Estonian government, experts, and the diplomatic corps.
The conference will discuss Estonian-Belarusian relations, the strategy vis-a-vis Belarus, ways to support the repressed and political prisoners, and ways to hold the regime accountable.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke at the opening of the conference and welcomed the participants:
“We are building an international coalition in support of an independent and free Belarus. Estonia is one of our key allies. This is no coincidence: Belarusians and Estonians truly understand and support each other. It was for a reason that after the events of 2020, many Belarusians fleeing repression found refuge here, in Estonia. I am grateful to the Estonian government and the people of Estonia for their principled and unwavering support for democratic Belarus”.
