It has been exactly one year since Mikalai Statkevich’s relatives and loved ones received the last message from him. Since February 9, 2023, there have been no reports about his whereabouts: no messages from him have gotten outside of the prison, while letters and parcels from the outside have not reached him. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya joined the international support campaign “Show Statkevich!” to highlight the incommunicado detention of one of Belarus’ most prominent politicians.
“I call on all our international partners: media, politicians, and activists – to demand that the regime show Mikalai Statkevich. Exert as much pressure on the regime as possible. It must understand that no crime will go unpunished – and every perpetrator will be held accountable ”, the Belarusian leader noted in her statement.
